THE IMPORTANCE OF HANDS
Hands are one of our greatest assets, vitally important for gripping, holding, feeling, and modulating. From holding a sledge hammer to stroking a baby’s face, our hands interact with the world in a unique way. Our hands control our motorcycle, the speed at which we travel, how hard we brake, they give us feel of traction we have and direct where we go. In short, they’re worth protecting!
KNOX SPS
PATENTED SCAPHOID PROTECTION
Scaphoid fractures are one of the most common injuries in motorcycle accidents, and are the most difficult to heal. They happen when a rider instinctively tries to protect themselves by putting their hands out to save themselves in a fall. When the hand makes contact with the road surface, the glove grips (grab effect), hyper-extending the wrist and breaking the scaphoid.
The Knox patented Scaphoid Protection System(SPS), consists of 2 small, discreet pads that are strategically sewn to the glove palm. The SPS eliminates the grab effect, allowing the glove to slide away, which minimises the risk of hyper extension, and a broken scaphoid. It’s such an important part of the hand to protect and is included on every glove in the collection.
Are all scaphoid protectors authentic?
Only gloves licensed to use the Knox Scaphoid Protection System are authentic and reliable. For scaphoid protection to be authentic and approved it must be a licensed product and go through a Knox approval process to ensure the parts are positioned accurately on every new brand and style. Without this approval it’s impossible to trust the reliability of any scaphoid protection.
Most approved gloves carry a Knox swing tag but if you are in any doubt you can always contact us and we will advise if it is a Knox SPS-approved product. Many gloves may claim to have scaphoid protection but only have 1 pad on the palm and a small piece of fabric cushioning below the thumb. Unfortunately, unlicensed scaphoid protection systems are not authentic and are not trustworthy. They are likely to cause more issues as the leather will grip below the thumb and the palm will slide at the same time, causing the wrist to grip and twist at speed.
The Importance of Fit
A great fitting glove is the holy grail of motorcycle riding gear. With features like the patented Boa wrist closure or Knox Lift and Lock fitting system, riders are sure of a secure and precise fit around the wrist, without loss of flexibility or dexterity when riding. Floating knuckles, wrap round fingers and the use of tough but durable stretch fabrics are considered in the fit process.

THE CE APPROVAL PROCESS
All Knox road motorcycle gloves undergo independent tests by an approved European test house, to be given the CE EN 13594 rating. The 15 tests carried include an analysis of the materials used, the fit, the cut of the glove, abrasion resistance, the all-important seam and tear strength as well as impact absorption.

MICRO-LOCK IMPACT PROTECTION
The addition of Knox Micro-Lock impact protection to a motorcycle glove represents a significant improvement in rider safety and comfort. This advanced technology is designed to provide exceptional impact resistance, offering enhanced protection to the wearer's hands during potential crashes or accidents.

TOUCH SCREEN ENABLED
The introduction of touch screen-enabled gloves for motorcycling brings a multitude of benefits to riders, combining convenience, safety, and connectivity. Firstly, these gloves allow riders to seamlessly operate their touch screen devices, such as smartphones or GPS systems, without the need to remove their gloves, ensuring uninterrupted access to important information while on the go.
